Pre-Planting Checklist
Complete every item before buying a single sucker. References: Getting Started, Planting.
- Soil test completed (pH, EC, organic carbon, NPK, micronutrients)
- Soil pH confirmed 7.0–8.5 (lime applied if below 6.5)
- Drainage assessment done — no waterlogging risk
- Raised beds constructed (if on heavy soil or flood-prone area)
- Irrigation system installed and tested (drip pressure check)
- Planting material ordered from verified nursery (species + variety confirmed)
- Quantity confirmed (plants/acre × number of acres)
- Delivery date coordinated with planting schedule
- Land preparation completed (ploughing, levelling, bed formation)
- Organic matter applied (FYM/compost: 5–10 tonnes/acre)
- Intercrop seeds purchased (if year-1 intercropping planned)
- Fencing installed or planned
- At least one buyer contacted / LOI obtained
- Budget prepared with 10% contingency
- Crop insurance enrolled (PMFBY or equivalent)
- Labour arranged for planting day
- Tools and supplies ready (dibbers, crates, mulch, markers)
